Commercial Interruption for Travel to Tanzania

Elephants of the Serengeti

They really are that beautiful

I do have more challenges for folks on So You Think You Can Teach, but I am just back in from two weeks of travel; Rwanda a bit and then ten days in Tanzania. Because I am working on moving to another house and have a week of training that begins tomorrow.  I will just post some photos and hope to write a bit about it soon.  Needless to say, however, it was dreamy and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to do this travel.

  3. I did take these photos with my little Cannon, that I had recently dropped and so it likes to shut down quite often. Therefore, you can only imagine what it is like "live"-these animals are incredible!

  5. Wow! Is that a baby elephant in that photo? In the words of the great Mikey... "Too fair!"

  6. Sweet. I am glad that you got a chance to do this. What sort of training are you doing? I had assumed that you were already the expert.

  7. It really is too fair to see all these incredibly adapted animals. In fact, with spring and all we saw lots of baby elephants. Does that make it, "Too, too, too, fair"?

We are getting more language training and looking at what is going well, how to improve things, and working with other similar volunteers on projects, workshops, etc.

  11. Dear Erin,
I am fascinated by your journey to Africa, because you have inspired me to travel there one day as well. It has been my DREAM for 7 years to go there and take beautiful photographs of the animals and land. Can you tell me who you traveled with and how you came to go there? Thanks, and I LOVE the pictures!!

  12. Well, thank you Stephanie, Bryn, and Becca! It is fun to see posts from the wonderful students at St. Joe's. The photos are nice and really, as is not surprising, do not do justice to how gorgerous these animals are in "person". Having a male lion look you dead in the eyes from ten paces in the middle of the Serengeti was for certain a dream come true for me. I was just trying to finish another blog posting of, "So You Think You Can Teach?", but am so tired from the long, hot moto rides (four hours today), and working that I keep falling asleep. However, I so enjoyed your postings that I stayed awake a bit longer to say hello and ask you to pass on a hello to my mother. Thanks!

  14. Well, so far in my limited experience I would have to say the area around Ngorngoro Crater in Tanzania...pretty magical.
